NEW BOYS IN TOWN!!!
Cape Town’s vibrant, activity-filled and effective Yeshiva was established in 1994, housed in the Arthur’s Road Orthodox Hebrew Congregation, Sea Point. The material studied in the Yeshiva is manifold. Even though the emphasis is on the study of Talmud, all Jewish learning, including Philosophy, Bible and Midrash is studied.
Cape Town families have intensified their commitment to Torah values over the lst decade and the Yeshiva has enabled a committed and educated young community to grow. The Yeshiva has already become a focus of Torah learning, a place where all interested in enriching their knowledge of Judaism can realize this objective.
The Yeshiva is involved in both formal and informal activities within the community, in addition to the half-day set aside for the bachurim to pursue their own learning. Their activities include one-on-one tutoring with community members, activities at the Herzliya schools and visits to Highlands House. Every other Shabbat the Yeshiva bachurim visit communities throughout the Cape.
The chevruta program remains the most important and crucial dimension of our activities and has remained stable during the year. About 200 members of the community participate in this one-on-one tutoring program. This type of study allows students to study at their own pace, delve into topics of their own choice and provides an environment free of inhibition to question, debate and argue. Topics covered included the entire range of Torah Literature - Chumash, Halacha, Parsha, Nach, Machshava, Mishna, Gemara, Siddur, Jewish History, etc….
The Kollel is currently learning M'sechet baba batra
