Established in 1994 with the co-operation of Yeshivat Har Etzion, and housed in the Bet Midrash of Fuchs Bet Sefer Mizrachi, the Torat Tzion Kollel has spawned other kollelim in the United States and has generated interest in establishing more kollelim in America and around the world.

Locally the Kollel’s impact on our lives has been profound. The Rabbis teach Judaics to our children, and teach by example, as they pursue their own studies for hours each day in the Bet Midrash. The Rosh Kollel (Kollel Director) and Kollel Mechanchim, their wives, and families are our role models. They have become integral members of our school and shuls, our camp, and Bnei Akiva youth groups. They have intensified and authenticated community celebrations for Yom Hazikaron, Yom Ha’atzmaut and Yom Yerushalaim. They have created an umbilical link between us and the religious Zionist community in Israel, and they have created a distinctive educational experience in every setting.

Every Sunday morning, nearly seventy parents, students, and rabbis join for prayer and learning. Each Monday night Rabbi Michael Unterberg teaches Sefer Melachim (Book of Kings) and Rabbi Barry Kislowicz teaches Gemara. On Tuesday evening in the Women’s Bet Midrash, women teach women of varying Judaic backgrounds to actively explore the mystery and excitement of traditional Jewish texts. Throughout the week there are informal chevrutot, studying in partners, with the Kollel rabbis as both models and teachers. Throughout the year there are special events such as panel discussions, guest speakers, and holiday lectures.
