How to help

Since 1994, Torah MiTzion has been growing constantly. There are now 28 programs running in various locations in the Diaspora - in thirteen cities in North America, eight university campuses, and in another seven countries around the world. Led by the finest Hesder yeshiva graduates, the impact these kollels have had on the Jewish communities has been remarkable, and is clearly a crucial tool in strengthening young Jewish leadership, meeting the challenges of assimilation and bridging the Diaspora with Israel.

Learning in AtlantaTorah MiTzion in Israel recruits, screens, orients and trains over 130 Shlichim and their families each year for these programs. We provide educational materials and give guidance and support to enable the smooth running of the Kollel in each community. We also remain in contact with the Shlichim throughout the period of Shlichut - sending Special Guest Speakers, sending learning materials and assisting whenever we can.

The running costs of the program are indeed very high. Although most of the kollels are supported completely by the local communities, Torah MiTzion still accumulates a very high budget.

Our main needs are as follows:

Kollel Sponsorships: New Kollels in Buenos Aires, Budapest, Kiev and in other locations are awaiting the green light to begin. Also, the Kollels in Moscow and Montevideo lack adequate funding. Initialising and continuation of these kollels will instill and strengthen the Jewish and Zionist identities of hundreds of Jews.

TMT Shlichim for 5764Recruitment and Training: Every year, over 180 candidates are scanned. The process involves publicity, personal inteviews, reference follow up and objective testing. Due to the different needs of the various community kollels, we have developed seperate tracks for Kollel Director (Rosh Kollel), single shlichim and women's leadership. This includes language support, maximizing their effectivity as educators and role models.

Supplementary Programming: Every year we arrange guest lecturers to go on tours to the communities - serving both the Kollel Shlichim and also the general public. In the past we have sent Rabbi Avi Rath, to North America, South Africa and Australia, as well as Yonah Goodman of Bnei Akiva Olami, Rav She'ar Yeshuva Cohen (Chief Rabbi of Haifa) and Rabbi Pinchas Heyman, Dean of Foreign students at Bar Ilan University.

Pedagogical Material: Each Shaliach receives a kit with special educational material, prepared by our staff and previous participants of the program. During the year, we also send out additional information.

Computers, Databases and Website: This website is utilised as a hub for information, publicity, discussion forums and sharing of learning material. As trafiic on the site increases, we would like to launch additional programs via the site - such as live online shiurim, meetings and presentations. Torah MiTzion also requires proffesional software and networking hardware to run its databases and applications.

Any assistance in funding these programs - will be greatly appreciated.
